Wherever You Go ... There You Are
For those of you who are new to this blog, having just stumbled upon it for the first time, we have great news for you ... this is our very first post!! Yup ... you haven't missed a thing! This here is the inaugural edition, the maiden verbage, the precursor and promise of many (well, multiple anyway) exciting episodes to come. Guaranteed to grab you by your senses and hold you spellbound for nanoseconds at a time or your money back.
Well, to begin then. The picture you see includes only half of us (not such a great start maybe) ... one of us being not present at the time, one of us taking the picture (!!), and one of us being too young to remain upright astride a wheeled vehicle. Evan, Madelyn and Nathan (L-R) are posing near the end of the long driveway in front of our rented home in the country north of Benton City, WA where we have been living since early March 2009. (For a brief visual summary of how we got here, click the 'How they got here' link on the left side of the page.) We're finally getting settled in here - a long and often wearisome process involving many momentous and mind-bending decisions about boxes, bedrooms, clothes, cupboards, pictures, parcels, utensils, u-name-it ... with more than a few items being banished un-unpacked to the garage with no chance of parole until our next move.
But now much of that is behind us, with many thanks to Grammy who visited for most of a week recently and donated much of her time, effort and organizational abilities in due season while G & kids were under the weather. And speaking of the weather ... it's been getting fabulous in these parts! The Tri-Cities area is allegedly known for its 300+ days of sunshine each year, though we have had our times of serious doubts about the legitimacy of this reputation so far. However, things have been much brighter recently, the yard work has begun, and the kids spend absolutely as much time outside as their parents will allow. It is such a blessed relief, a phenomenon heretofore unknown to us, to not have to worry about where the kids are, who they're talking to or playing with, every second that they're outside (i.e. the Subdivision Syndrome)!
So here we are. Okay, maybe that wasn't so gripping after all. But just wait until the next post ... that one will be really gripping!! Just you see if it isn't.
